Trackpad Mode in iPad-The Easy Switch Selection

Trackpad-in-iPad

In the latest Apple iOS 9 you will have your hands on with a new feature  where you can  turn the iPad’s on-screen keyboard into a trackpad. It is quite easy to use and with few gestures of your hand you will be able to have this amazing feature.

Just with your two fingers you can drag on the keyboard in any direction and cause the keycaps pause and on the screen cursor to follow your hand movements.

With this you can put the insertion or selection point exactly where you want it while editing your stuff.

How to do it?

As said above it is a simple process.

  • Instead of tapping to move the cursor, you can swipe on the iPad screen to move it, just like you would on a laptop trackpad.
  • Launch the app you want to use and bring up the keyboard.
  • Touch two fingers down on the keyboard to switch to the trackpad.
  • Swipe your finger around to move the cursor.

Select text in trackpad mode on your iPad

You can also use the virtual trackpad to select text.

To select specific lengths of text:

  • Launch the app you want to use and bring up the keyboard.
  • Touch two fingers down on the keyboard to switch to the trackpad.
  • Tap two fingers once to select the word.
  • Tap two fingers twice to select the sentence.
  • Tap two fingers thrice to select the paragraph.
  • To select custom lengths of text:
  • Touch two fingers down on the keyboard to switch to the trackpad.
  • Wait a moment for the cursor to switch to the text selector.
  • Swipe your finger around to move the text selection point.

The iPad’s keyboard still retains its multi-touch capabilities during normal use, and the scrolling function is difficult to activate by accident.

The keyboard as touch pad works more like a mouse moving the cursor independent of the text in the window. Give it a try!
