The Map App on your iPad-How to customize settings
Map app is a very useful application on your iPad or iPhone. Now you can customize the Map app to make it work according to your needs and requirement. In Apple Maps settings you change the volume of navigation prompts, change the units of distance, and even get follow-up emails on issues you report. You can set everything according to your choice, the way you wish to look up at the map. Here are the following easy to do steps for customizing some things on your map app for your iPad
You can change the navigation voice volume on iPad
When you are looking at the map app and finding some location as well listening to music also you will find the Siri playing overtop of that existing audio. When this happens you are not able to listen to the directions. To avoid this you can change the navigation voice volume.
Launch the Settings app from your Home screen.
Tap on Maps.
Select your desired volume level. You have four options to choose from.
- No Voice: This will silence navigation prompts
- Low Volume: This will play navigation prompts and media at the same volume level.
- Normal Volume: This will media at a lower volume level during navigation prompts.
- Loud Volume: This will lower media volume and raise navigation prompts volume.
Turn on the Pause Spoken Audio feature on iPad
If you hate that the navigation prompts during your travels always play over your other spoken media, like podcasts and audiobooks, you can turn on the ability to have your other audio pause automatically when directions are being spoken to you.
Launch the Settings app from your Home screen.
Tap on Maps.
Tap on the On/Off switch beside Pause Spoken Audio.
You can turn this feature off at anytime just by following the same steps above.
Change the units of distance for Maps on iPad
You are living in Australia then Map apps will track all the distance in Kilometers and if you will move towards west and be at United States your Maps app will measure all units of distance in Miles. You can change the default unit of distance any time.
Launch the Settings app from your Home screen.
Tap on Maps.
Tap on the unit of distance you would like to use. You have two options.
- Miles
- Kilometres
Turn off English map labels on iPad
Now suppose you are travelling to South Asian Country say India or Korea. When you use your Map app it will still show all the street names in English because your Maps app uses English labels by default. You can turn off that feature any time you want.
Launch the Settings app from your Home screen.
Tap on Maps.
Tap on the On/Off switch beside Always in English.
Turn on email follow up issue reporting for Maps on iPad
You are facing issues with Maps and have been reporting them to Apple but you seem no one is listening to you complaints. You can always turn on the option to receive a follow-up email to find out you how the issue you are reporting is being dealt with.
Launch the Settings app from your Home screen.
Tap on Maps.
Tap on the On/Off switch beside Follow up by Email.
