How to Free up Space on your iPad without Deleting Photos or Apps
If the memory or storage capacity is less and you wish to but save something urgent you obviously need to free some space on your iPad for this. You either delete your favourite photo or an app which you do not wish to do but are forced to do as you need some space.
But here you will find below some simple but highly effective methods to prevent your iPad from being cluttered for space and also free a lot of space on the device without having to delete apps and photos.
Get rid of “Other Data”
You might ask what is “Other Data”. The other data are the cache, cookies, logs, browser history that you have accumulated over the time on your iPad. Each app that you use continues to pile up cache, cookies and other stuff.
To check out how much other data a particular app has stored,
Just go over to Settings >General.
Tap on Storage and then on iCloud Usage
Next tap on Manage Storage under storage. There you will see the list of apps and the space they have taken up on your device.
Tap on any app like as an example take Facebook, you will see Documents and Data and its size. You will be amazed to see how much space this ‘other data’ has acquired.
Now you need to backup your device preferably via iTunes.
Reset your iPhone, Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings.
Finally, connect your device to your Mac or PC, launch iTunes and restore from backup.
You are almost there now with space but remember it won’t get rid of all the caches at once, repeating the process frequently will go a long way in keeping your device uncluttered.
Clear Safari History and Website Data
By default, Safari keeps with it the record of what you search on the web. You need to clear it off from time to time.
Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.
Never Double Save Photos
If you use HDR mode on your iPhone, two photos are automatically saved on your iOS device. While the one is HDR version, the other is a normal one. Hence, you need to make sure that you keep normal photos.
Go and Tap on Settings > Photos and Camera
Scroll down and turn on Keep Normal Photo.
Never Store Text Messages Forever
It’s better to delete messages regularly. Also there is an option to get it done with ease.
Tap on Settings >Messages.
Scroll down and tap on Keep Messages
It will ask you as how many days you wish to keep messages. You can select 30 days.
Delete Offline Data
It’s advisable to remove the offline data that you don’t need to read later.
Remove Offline Data At Once
Go and tap on Settings > General.
Tap on Storage and iCloud Usage> Tap on Manage Storage under Storage.
Tap on Safari > Tap on Edit from the top right corner.
Tap on the red button behind the Offline Reading List > Tap on Delete >Tap on Done from the top right corner.
Remove Offline Data Individually
If you don’t want to remove all the offline data at once, you can individually delete it. Launch Safari on your iDevice> Tap on the icon which looks like a book at the bottom>make sure Reading List is selected (the tiny glass)> Swipe left from right on any data that you don’t want> tap on Delete >Tap on Done from the top right corner.
Hope now you have enough space on your iPad and you need not delete your valuable photos or apps that you like. Keep your iPad uncluttered from time to time and you will say Voila what a space.
